We will post your missing pet on our board for staff and the public to see.

If your pet is lost, please email the Office Staff a photo of the animal, the animal’s information, and your contact information. If the animal is not claimed by the owner at the end of the hold period, the animal is then available for adoption or pull by a 501c3 rescue organization. All animals are held for either a period of seven or ten days to give the animal’s owners time to reclaim them. If the animal has a microchip we immediately research the microchip to strive to find an owner. Each animal that enters our shelter is scanned for a microchip. If you have found a stray animal, please call our office and we will have the animal picked up by an Animal Control Officer.

Please keep in mind that new animals come into the shelter each day, and some are reunited with their owners, so we have a wide variety of breeds, ages, and energy levels. Find AnimalsĪnimals available for adoption may be found at the Animal Shelter website or on our Facebook page, Jefferson County Animal Control, Missouri. Because of this, not all pets will be able to go home with their adopter on the day of adoption, but generally are in their new home within two to three business days of adoption. In accordance with state laws, all animals adopted from our facility must be spayed or neutered before being released to the new owners. The adoption process takes approximately twenty minutes and consists of meeting the animal, filling out and going over the Adoption Application, and working with the Rescue Coordinator to schedule any needed vetting. We also require any individual interested in adopting an animal to meet the animal in person, preferably with any other animals currently in the home, to be sure that the animal is the best fit for the new home. In order to adopt an animal from Jefferson County Animal Control, you must be at least eighteen years of age.
